Welcome to the Spotlight Series, where we showcase the incredible talents of our inspiring creative partners. In this series, we explore the artistic minds behind our collaborators, shedding light on their creative processes and the sources of their inspiration. We are thrilled to profile the accomplished designer Anouk. Our collaboration with Anouk has brought to life a range of bespoke spaces that truly capture her unique vision and style. Let’s dive into Anouk’s creative journey and discover what drives her design.

Do you come from a creative background, and if so, how has your environment played a role in shaping your creative perspective?

My father was in construction and romantically built my mother an atelier in the garage. She painted, he encouraged. Both being creatives at heart they gave me the freedom to express and discover my own. My mom loves to tell people how I would make moodboards as a kid, using leafs, sticks, stones and whatever I could find outside. I would lay them in patterns and create color pallets. She always knew I would be a designer of some sort. Joining my father on site, I wanted to become a mason or carpenter. In my teens I set my mind to fashion. Funny because it almost feels 'full circle' that I ended up in interior design.

Where do you draw inspiration for your work?

Being a city girl means I am forever inspired by different cultures. It taught me to show character, to be fearless and most importantly; to keep it real.

I listen closely and observe details, as they often form my biggest inspiration. Historical architecture makes my heart beat fast, so does nature, music and anything born from passion. In the end, it all comes down to love. In my work I look for ways to connect the materialistic to the soul.

How would you define your unique creative style?

You can recognize my work by a natural flow and a certain coolness. I pour detail into everything I touch.

My aim is to create interiors that radiate character over trend, where quality speaks for itself. The real kick is when we have the freedom to shape something out of nothing, or to revive a space that seems lost. At Two O Five we say that we are simply translators, a term that deeply resonates with my personal vision; the story is already there, it just needs to be told.

Could you share some insights into the creative process behind designing your projects?

We envision the goal first, what’s the story and how are we going to tell it. My creativity starts flowing when I take a deep dive in search of the essence. I look for images and other ways to translate my vision. After establishing the look and feel, we come together as a team and perform according to our strengths. We carefully build the design with bespoke pieces, colors and materials that represent the vision and the vision only. If it doesn’t fit, it's back to the drawing board until we reach the ultimate goal.

The start and delivery of a project is without a doubt my favorite part. It rocks my world when it all comes together.

What did the process of working with Frankly Amsterdam in these projects look like?

As soon as I start shaping material moodboards I reach for Frankly Amsterdam, which might seem early in the process but proofs to be essential every time. The only way to have fixed materials like wood, stone, glass and metal come alive is to combine them with the opposite; ultra soft textiles. The contrast between cold and warm helps to shape and complete the design. Frankly Amsterdam has a way with colors and materials that answers to our needs seamlessly, whether it’s for a private residence or a commercial project. Their intentional way of working together helps me to furnish our projects with ease and timeless elegance

Are there any upcoming projects that particularly excite you?

There is a lot that excites me, however, I am a firm believer of silent moves and loud results. Just stay tuned.
